Vintage Porsche Ads

Came across these amazing Porsche Ads from the 80’s. Lovely use of typography and image perspective which visually gives a sense of speed. The ads are fun and playful, a stark contrast to the yuppie teutonic image of porsche today. Cheeky slogans & imagery for the flashy buyers, detailed descriptive fine print for the engineering types. A nice homage to the brand since many purists consider the water cooled 993 series 911s the ultimate porsche. More after the jump…

BMW 3 Series TV Ad

BMW recently put out a new ad spot for their iconic 3 series. A refreshing departure from their revamped softy ‘JOY’ campaign. The ad speaks back to ‘The Ultimate Driving Machine’ as enthusiasts remember with vintage driving footage of the classics. BMW, please make more of these ads and go back to building handling machines rather than over-powered porkers.


Aston Martin Rapide Design Details

Aston Martin recently launched their 4-door executive saloon, the Rapide. Came across these pics of it’s amazing design details. Materials and textures are so beautifully integrated inside and out. The last pic shows the cover for the trunk latch, why? so you don’t see the ugly hook when the trunk is open. This is what $200k buys you. More after the jump…



MINI Scooter E Update!

MINI shared sketches of it’s scooter concept on their facebook fan page. They will be premiering the concept at the upcoming Paris Auto show. Details are scarce but the word is we will be seeing an all electric powerplant with what looks like a lot of MINI design influence. Could be a nice summer run-about here in Montreal. Marc Newson is a industrial designer from Australia. He incorporates a design style known as biomorphism to his various designs. This style uses smooth flowing lines, translucency, transparency and tends to have an absence of sharp edges. He has a showing at the Gagosian Gallery in NYC

MINI USA recently relaunched their online “build your own” configurator. It’s much improved over the old version with the ability to download desktop wallpapers of your dream MINI. We have a few MINIs at EP our most recent being a ’09 JCW Clubman. They have some new color combos that were not available when EP ordered ours and we are now salivating to upgrade.
