Canadian men raised $32 million for movember’s annual prostate cancer research fundraiser, more than any other country in the world! (Australia $22.5 mil, US $12 mil). In honor of this great achievement Electric Pixel brings you Movember Thanky Stanky, a quick mixtape by our resident beat master, DJ A-Factor. Music drives the creative brains at EP so last night we unleashed the A-Factor behind the 1’s & 2’s to put together a sample of beats we were feelin’ this past month.
Frank Ocean’s nostalgia, ULTRA has been on repeat at the EP office this last month. Christopher Francis Ocean, a little-know songwriter with works for Alicia Keys, John Legend & the Biebers, leaked his first album through his tumblr site earlier in March. Although signed to Def Jam last year with the hopes and dreams of the label’s big shoulders, the commitment was not there so he decided to take matters into his own hands. His melodic spoken word style seems so the future of R&B. The MGMT remake of “Electric Feel” will make you lol. We love the album cover art since we do have our own e30 BMW M3 in the EP garage.

TDK is bringing the classic back with their new line of modern boomboxes. Modern lines meets vintage cool with some great design details featuring wood & leather, piano black finishes, and satin gold accents. Love it. More pics after the jump…
Kanye teamed up with Hype Williams to put together this 35 min short film that premiered in Paris last week. There are some nice visuals to go with a simple story of a scantily clad Phoenix crashing to earth and then being introduced to our society by Kanye. The music is the gem though, showcasing tracks off of his upcoming album ‘My Dark Twisted Fantasy’ Leave it to Kanye to once again do something different. Haters keep hating, but I love his artistic work.
The ‘Mixtape King’ JPeriod, just dropped a live mixtape with Black Thought. This was recorded live in Toronto at the Manifesto Festival back in September 2010 with JPeriod on the decks and the ultimate ’emcee’ Black Thought spittin’ it mixtape style. Enjoy! Check the video after the jump…
So Yeezy’s new album is set to drop this fall and the word on the street is that def jam has already banned the cover. A nude black devil being straddled by a naked angel all bordered in red. Below are Kanye’s reaction tweets, jokes…
Kanye: Yoooo they banned my album cover!!!!! Ima tweet it in a few…
Kanye: Banned in the USA!!! They don’t want me chilling on the couch with my phoenix!
Kanye: In the 70s album covers had actual nudity… It’s so funny that people forget that… Everything has been so commercialized now.
Kanye: So Nirvana can have a naked human being on they cover but I can’t have a PAINTING of a monster with no arms and a polka dot tail and wings
Kanye: In all honesty … I really don’t be thinking about Wal-Mart when I make my music or album covers
