Faro architects built this contemporary modern residence in the Netherlands. The exterior surfacing is made of charred larch according to an old Japanese tradition. This charred surface makes it unnecessary to treat or paint the wood. There is a little too  much use of pine throughout the interior but the design details are exquisite, particullary the large tree trunk that seems to hold up the second floor and the multiple thin slat windows. The use of living or natural elements in the interior are inspired by Japanese architect Terunobu Fujimoro. More pics after the jump…
